History of Leigh Leopards
Leigh Leopards dates from 1878, before the 1895 split that created the Northern Union. That breakaway, agreed in Huddersfield, became the game we now call rugby league.
That gives the club more than 140 years of rugby in Leigh, Greater Manchester. In addition, generations of local players, coaches and volunteers have shaped its story.
